DMC BUSINESS OWNER & SOAP STAR JOIN FORCES FOR BARNSLEY CHARITY
22/06/2023 |
A BARNSLEY business-woman has teamed up with a soap star to support a local women’s charity.
Laura Blackburn, owner of B Animated animation studio recently welcomed Coronation Street actress Sally Carman to her Digital Media Centre design studio to record a voice-over for Resolute Women’s Support Services. Laura and Sally came together to produce an animation and voiceover worth over £3000 which will be showcased by Resolute at their open event being held at Barnsley Metrodome. The event will also include live music, shows and host over 40 supportive services that can provide help for women affected by domestic abuse.
Resolute Women's Support Services help women in Barnsley overcome issues around domestic abuse, mental health and alcohol and substance misuse and work as a Coordinated Community Response team. They ensure the victim’s voice is heard and that they are supported on their journey to a life free of domestic abuse.
Laura said: “I’m incredibly proud of where I come from so helping a local charity was a no-brainer to me.
“Resolute do amazing work in our community and I’ve really enjoyed working with them on this project”. “It was lovely to meet Sally, not only a patron of Resolute but also a fellow northern lass, and welcome her into my studio. I enjoyed every minute and it’s great to know we’ve done our bit to make a difference to a local charity and the women that they support.”
The voice-over was recorded in the Digital Media Centres’ Creator Lab space, thanks to funding from the Digital Innovation for Growth project, a European Regional Development initiative which provides businesses with 12 hours free use of the space.
The finished animation will have its first public showing at Resolute’s free event ‘Domestic Abuse – the reality!’ taking place at Barnsley Metrodome on July 27 at 10am, with later viewing opportunities throughout the day.
